How can you save with an ISA?
There are two types of ISA, the stocks and shares ISA and the cash ISA. There is a maximum ISA allowance of £7,200 per person each tax year. You can invest the whole £7,200 allowance in a stocks and shares ISA, but a maximum of just £3,600 into a cash ISA.

You can invest up to £7,200 in a stocks and shares ISA, provided you do not invest in a cash ISA within the same tax year.

Or, if you do have a cash ISA for the current tax year, you can invest any amount up to £3,600 in the cash ISA, and the balance (up to the maximum £7,200 allowance) can be invested in a stocks and shares ISA.

What are the tax benefits?
The most tax-efficient way of investing in any of the fund available on Witan Wealthbuilder is within an ISA. The ISA wrapper allows you to protect any growth that you make from capital gains tax. For higher rate tax payers there is also an income tax benefit in that dividend income within an ISA is paid net of basic tax, higher rate tax payers do not have to pay the additional 18% because ISAs do not have to be declared to the Inland Revenue.
